Thousands have already fled their homes on the Philippines' northern coastal tip ahead of the early Saturday arrival of what forecasters have called the strongest typhoon yet this year. Businesses and residents on Luzon island, which is home to millions, were boarding up windows and tying down roofs that could be sheared off by sustained winds of 205 kilometres per hour. The Philippines state weather service raised a "signal four" alert, the second-highest storm warning for winds of up to 220 kilometres per hour, for the Cagayan and northern Isabela coastal provinces. Enugu State Government Commences repairs of collapsed Udi Road

Image
Enugu Road Collapse The Enugu State Government has commenced repairs on a major road in Udi Local Government Area of the state. A section of the interstate linking road had caved in about two weeks ago after a downpour, making the movement of residents difficult. But the Commissioner for Works in the state, Greg Nnaji, says the commencement of repairs will in no time, help to alleviate the suffering of the people. Speaking to Channels Television, a resident who decried the state of the road,  appreciated the government for intervening. She said, “I thank God for this intervention because when the road caved in, everybody was afraid because it became narrow and cars wobble when they pass through it. We thank the government and ask that they do more on the other side.” The state government has, however, called on the Federal Government to reimburse funds spent on federal roads in the state, to enable it carry out its elected responsibilities. Flood kills more than 37

The Niger State Government has appealed to the Federal Government to intervene after 40 people were killed in the state following a flood disaster. Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State made this appeal on Thursday after a visit to persons displaced by the flood. The governor noted that the flood disaster is beyond control of the state government. “More than 100 communities have been submerged completely by water. It doesn’t appear as if the water is receding. Infact, I think we should expect more. It is very disturbing. “The situation definitely is getting out of hand and I think it’s beyond what the state can do. At this point, we have to request support from the Federal Government,” he said. He noted that most of the affected communities have no food and steps must be taken to provide them food and other relieve materials. The Director General of the States Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Ibrahim Inga, had earlier disclosed that over 40 people were killed in t

All three brands have now been withdrawn from sale. “Until advised, consumers should cut up strawberries before consuming them,” Queensland state government said in a statement. The health scare casts a shadow over Australia’s strawberry industry, worth more than A$130 million (US$93.61 million) each year. “We would hope the public can see this for wha

As a young undergraduate, I also learnt a lot from this experience. It is no longer strange that we’ve all complained that there are no jobs in Nigeria. But you should believe me when I say there are jobs in companies. Though, these jobs do not come often, but once publication is made by a company who wants to recruit new workers; how well are you prepared for such impromptu notification of jobs? ECONOMICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS In Nigeria, we all know that there are over 700 ethnic groups with different cultural backgrounds and

But the issue is the time wastage and cost of distributing contents over the internet is high. This is due to the geographical locations of CDN (content distribution Network) infrastructions. There have to be a way of bringing these insfrastructions closer to users in order to access content faster and also save cost. NOIA network is a decentralized CDN aimed at giving access to user in order to have a fast and time saving content distributed to their devices. NOIA will make use of users unused bandwith and unused storage space to be nodes that can serve as distribution nodes to other devices. These nodes are paid for becoming nodes on the NOIA network.
