A Gorilla swallow 6.8m Naira in Kano, Nigeria

It is no longer a new thing in Nigeria that domestic animals and wild animals left their forest or zoo and entered offices or ware houses to swallow money or some important documents.

Over the past 4 years, news of such are what has enveloped the Nigeria media. Animals like Snakes, Rats has in one way or the other interfered into humans home or office to take away valuable items. And now, a Gorilla swallows 6.8 million naira.

These stories are sometimes doubted if they are actually true or just some local journalist wanting to derive attentions. 

As reported by Vanguard News, a Gorilla has been accused of swallowing 6.8 million Naira in Kano zoological Garden.

A finance officer in the zoo was quoted as saying the Gorilla sneaked into an office and carted away the money before swallowing it.



The incident was said to have happened during the Sallah celebrations. Umar Kobo, the managing director of the zoo, confirmed that the money was missing and that the issue was being investigated. "The issue is under investigations for now and I don't want to say anything on the matter. Many Journalists have come to meet me but i don't want to say anything. What I can confirm is that money is missing," he told BBC Pigin.

Abdullahi Haruna, police spokesman in Kano, was quoted as confirming that 10 persons, including those on duty when he money went missing, have been arrested prior to investigation. "Yes, it is true that money from five days of Sallah festivities is missing from the Kano zoo," he reportedly said, adding: "As at now, we have arrested 10 members of staff of the zoo including the security man and those working in the finance unit."

This is not the first time animals have been involved in related issues in Nigeria. Matriculation Board (JAMB in Benue state, alleged that a snake swallowed 36 million Naira, being proceeds from sale of scratch Cards.
